With GE15 fever in full swing, Malaysians have become more wary of politicians from both sides trying to shore up support from voters with various tactics.
One such politician was caretaker Senior Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein, who was spotted having a meal at a KFC outlet in a viral TikTok video.

In the video by TikTok user @hafiznurruddin17, it showed Hishammuddin enjoying a finger-licking meal at KFC.
The TikToker also had much praise for the minister by writing: “A minister with the heart of the rakyat, very friendly and approachable, Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.”

Mixed feelings
The video, which has since garnered 1.9 million at the time of writing, saw a range of reactions from netizens who weren’t quite sure what to feel about it.
Skeptical netizens said that it was probably a tactic to gain support for GE15 as seeing ministers having a meal at “humble” eateries only occur during election season.
One went even further by sarcastically praising Hishamuddin for being “a minister for the people” before following it up with: “Hopefully, Barisan Nasional (BN) will lose big in GE15.” That escalated very quickly!
On the other hand, some defended Hishamuddin by saying that he was actually a humble and friendly individual in real life.
