For car owners, having a valid road tax and insurance coverage are the most important pieces of documents to have before taking the car to the road.
Two businessmen in Selangor found themselves on the wrong side of the law after they were caught driving luxury cars which had an expired road tax and insurance.
Expired for 3 months
According to Selangor JPJ director Datuk Ahmad Kamarulzaman bin Mehat, he said JPJ enforcement officers conducted the ‘Ops Luxury’ operation on Aug 7 in Bandar Bukit Tinggi, Klang, and along the Federal Highway.

During the operation, officers stopped two Mercedes vehicles for inspection and found that both cars had their road tax expired since May, while the insurance coverage was invalid.
When questioned, the car owners claimed that they rarely used the cars and this caused them to forget renewing their road tax and insurance, reported Sin Chew Daily.
Both Mercedes vehicles were subsequently seized and sent to the Selangor JPJ headquarters in Shah Alam for further action.

Ahmad Kamarulzaman added that Selangor JPJ would continue monitoring and addressing various traffic-related complaints to ensure that vehicles on the road comply with current traffic regulations and legal requirements.
He also urged members of the public to lodge complaints regarding traffic offences via email at aduantrafik@jpj.gov.my or through the e-Aduan application, together with the complainant’s details and relevant information about the offence.
