JOHOR – A volunteer ambulance operator claimed that he was offered RM10,000 to fetch a family of four to travel interstate back to their hometown.
Retired soldier Fairuz Yahya, who runs Medic Iltizam Ambulance, said he was approached by a 40-year-old man.
He asked me to take his wife and children to a state up north.
He also suggested getting his wife to stuff a large pillow underneath her clothes to make her look pregnant,” he told Berita Harian.
Besides, Fairuz revealed to the Malay daily that he was even offered an extra RM500 to rent out a paramedic uniform to bypass police roadblocks.
Sadly, he could not identify the man as the latter wore a helmet that covered his nose and mouth.
Fairuz: No Compromise On The Use Of Our Ambulance
Fairuz stated that he wasn’t willing to sacrifice his honour as an ambulance operator.
He added that he believes he would be blessed by God for upholding high moral standards.
Over the past five years, immense trust has been placed on me and my brother as private ambulance operators. Hence, we will only transport patients.
To date, Fairuz has provided services to over 700 patients nationwide. Moving forward, he said that he doesn’t charge those who are unable to pay.
“Although my vehicle is old, it is a valuable ‘award’ for me. I hope to help people in need,” he added.
