Viral Clip Of MBPJ Officers Provoking Man While Rounding Up Stray Dogs Surfaces Online

"It is the MBPJ's job to catch all these dogs. It's none of your business."
A group of officers from the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) has recently gone viral online for the wrong reasons.

The video, titled ‘Same MBPJ guy – this was 10 February’, was posted by a netizen on Facebook on Mar 24, where it showed several officers taunting the man filming them.

‘It’s none of your business!’

In the 56-second long video, two MBPJ officers could be heard hurling words at a man behind the camera in an insulting manner, with one of them saying, Ini siapa in? Ini siapa ni? Dia bayar anjing punya vaksin la (Who is this? Who is this? He paid for the dogs’ vaccine).”

His colleague then suggested the rest to take pictures of the man, something which the latter challenged them to do so.

One the officers then said disdainfully, “It is the MBPJ’s job to catch all these dogs. It’s none of your business.

He then proceeded to climb over the fence separating him from the man and provoked him further by saying, “Are those your dogs? If it is, just tell us.”

In doing so, the officer got right up to the camera and took up the entire frame, a clear sign that he had violated the man’s personal space.

MP urges action to be taken

The clip has so far raked in more than 80,000 views and thousands of shares on Facebook alone at the time of writing.

Speaking to NST about the matter, Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung called for an investigation to be made into the video.

He also added that it must be done in a transparent manner and maintain a level of impartiality and professionalism.

MBPJ has been in the bad limelight lately, no thanks to its involvement and subsequently handling of the case where an elderly man was allegedly assaulted by one of its officers.

It has also faced fierce criticism for allowing the involved officer to get away scot-free, arguing that the injuries the man suffered from the altercation was “unintentional”.
