Investigations ongoing.
A Bangladeshi man has been detained by the Immigration Department after allegations that he possessed two passports went viral on social media.

The case is believed to involve two Malaysian International Passports, also known as PMA.

Found inside a container in Kuantan

According to Kosmo!, Immigration Department director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said a team of six immigration officers raided a container at Jalan Kuantan Bandar Damansara, Kuantan, at around 6.30pm yesterday (July 4).

During the raid, officers found a Bangladeshi man at the location and uncovered two Malaysian International Passports, both of which had already expired.

According to Zakaria, the two passports had expired on April 25, 2017, and October 25, 2022, respectively.

Officers also found a Seafarer’s Service Book belonging to a local citizen.

Man detained to assist investigations

Following the discovery, the Bangladeshi man was detained and brought to the Kuantan Immigration Office to assist with investigations.

Zakaria said investigations are now being carried out to identify the rightful owners of the two Malaysian International Passports and the Seafarer’s Service Book.

Authorities are also looking into whether there were elements of unauthorised possession, misuse of travel documents, or other possible offences.

Zakaria stressed that the Immigration Department views any allegation involving the misuse or possession of Malaysian travel documents seriously.

He also advised the public not to make any speculation until the investigation is completed.

If any breach of the law is found, stern action will be taken in accordance with the existing legal provisions,” he said.
