“He had taken a knife from the kitchen into the bedroom toilet while his wife was sleeping. She was later awoken by his screams and found him in a pool of blood while clutching at his neck,” he said in a statement today.

Aidi Sham added that the victim had severed a vein at his neck and was sent to Tuanku Jaafar Hospital (HTJ), Seremban’s Red Zone for further treatment.

“Based upon information gathered from medical officers, the victim had previously sought treatment at the Port Dickson Health Clinic for insomnia and anxiety.

“His wife also mentioned that he had trouble sleeping and often overthought even though the family had no financial or personal problems.”

Aidi Sham said that the man is now in a stable condition and has been transferred to the ward after undergoing surgery at HTJ Seremban.

“However, he will be referred to a psychiatrist after he is discharged.

“We can also confirm that finances weren’t a factor behind the victim’s actions,” he said.
