A netizen recently recorded a man displaying disturbing behaviour while onboard an MRT train, which has since gone viral.
The post also triggered a wave of speculation over what could have caused the man’s bizarre behaviour, with many claiming he was either drunk or high on drugs.
Unsettling behaviour inside MRT
In a series of videos shared on the OP’s Threads account, it showed the man clad in a red t-shirt bent over in his seat while clutching his chest briefly.

A young man seated next to him was visibly troubled by his behaviour and slowly got up to move elsewhere. However, he patted the man’s shoulder kindly before creating distance between them.

Another video showed the man slowly slumping to the floor before he was lying down fully, leading many passengers to stare at him and record away.
Things then took a bizarre turn when the man suddenly turned his attention to one of the metal poles and sank his teeth into it, much to the passengers’ bewilderment.

What caused it?
The comment section was rife with speculation over what was the reason behind the man’s unsettling behaviour.
Some said the man could have been on drugs at the time, while some claimed he was intoxicated, with one passenger claiming that he reeked of alcohol.

Meanwhile, a handful of netizens slammed the passengers who simply filmed the incident but did nothing to help the man, who was clearly in distress.

What OP witnessed
Speaking to WeirdKaya, the OP said the incident took place last night on the MRT Kwasa Damansara Yellow Line.
He added that throughout the ride, the man kept smirking at other passengers, crawling around inside the MRT, and making “spurting” sounds which made others deeply uncomfortable.
“I was scared as he was already disturbing others even before he entered the train. I couldn’t imagine what would happen if he were to harass a woman.”

Thankfully, the OP said several passengers intervened by calling the authorities to offer assistance to the man.

The OP also urged Malaysians to be more alert of their surroundings when they face a similar situation.
We need to be more careful before lending help to a stranger, especially those believed to be on drugs or intoxicated, for our own safety.
“While we still can be kind to others, we must know when is the right time to do so,’ he added.
