Man Pulls Knife On Landlord And Strangles Her Over Slow Wi-Fi Speed, Jailed For 5 Months

Speedrun to jail instead.
We all don’t like it when the Wi-Fi speed comes to a crawl when we’re playing online games or trying to get work done.

A man from China paid the price of acting impulsively with jail time after he threatened his Singaporean landlord and strangled her over the Wi-Fi speed.

While playing his mobile game, Li reportedly got angry over the slow Wi-Fi speed and stormed over to her room and demanded her to come out.

As the argument escalated, Li pulled out a 14cm knife from the back of his shorts and dragged Lin into his room, where he slammed her onto the bed. Once they were inside the room, Li placed the knife into the back of his shorts.

Thankfully, Lin managed to calm Li down, who then left to speak to another tenant named Su Ju.

At that moment, Li got a phone call from a third tenant named Ji Zhaoliang, who told him that he had been waiting downstairs for two hours. Upon hearing their conversation, Lin yelled at Ji asking why he didn’t come home after work and told him to do so immediately.

Li then hung up the call and answered Lin about why Ji was late: “Because I told him I will be killing all your family and all of you.”

Frightened by his threat, Lin began to fear for her safety and dropped subtle hints to Ji about her argument with Li and that Li had a knife when he got back home.

Angered by her act, Li turned violent once more and pushed her onto the bed and strangled her until Ji intervened and stopped him.

Lin then rushed to her room and locked herself inside, leaving Li pounding on her door and yelling at her to come out. The incident was finally brought to an end when Su’s employer arrived and contacted the police.

Jailed for 5 months

Appearing in court on Wednesday (June 21), Li, who wasn’t represented, pleaded with the judge to show him leniency, claiming that he had been experiencing anxiety during his remand period as he was worried about the punishment that would be levied against him.

He also said that he had been working in Singapore for over 10 years and that he wouldn’t have acted rashly if he had known about the country’s laws.
