SEBERANG PERAI: A man suffering from depression has died after throwing himself off the 10th floor of an apartment at Jalan Raja Uda, Butterworth yesterday (June 23).
At about 6.50 pm, the 26-year-old victim suffered severe injuries and died on the scene.
North Seberang Perai Regional Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Noorzainy Mohd. Noor said investigations found that the victim, who lived in Taman Bayu, jumped off the ledge and fell to his death.
“He had gone to the apartment on a motorcycle and took an elevator to the 10th floor.

“Upon reaching the apartment, the victim sat on the ledge, protruded his legs, and pushed himself off all of a sudden,” he said when contacted today.

Noorzainy also said that the victim’s wife had told police that he had been under immense mental pressure and received treatment from a private clinic four days ago.

“The victim, who has two children aged four and two, became depressed after his business failed and suffered huge losses,” he added.
Noorzainy said the body has been sent to Seberang Jaya Hospital for an autopsy, and police have classified the case as sudden death as there were no criminal elements involved.
Meanwhile, the horrifying incident was recorded in broad daylight by a member of the public with a mobile phone.
