Man Flung Into 2-Metre Deep Drain In Suspected Hit-And-Run In Klang

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A man in his 30s was found dead inside a 2-metre deep drain on Jalan Kapar Batu 5, Klang after he was allegedly run over by a vehicle yesterday (May 13).

Photos of the grisly sight were later shared widely online, with one showing onlookers staring at the body floating inside the drain.

Died in alleged hit-and-run

According to Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, he said the department received an emergency call at 3.22am.

Seven personnel from the North Klang Fire and Rescue Station were deployed to the location, which was located about five kilometres away, reported Utusan.

“Upon arriving at the location, the team found the victim inside a two-metre-deep drain. According to the person who made the emergency call, the victim was hit by a vehicle and flung into the drain.

“Firefighters lifted the victim onto a stretcher before Health Ministry officials confirmed that he had died at the scene,” he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Klang Utara police chief S Vijaya Rao said the victim, believed to be a Bangladeshi, was struck by a sport utility vehicle (SUV) which lost control while ravelling from Klang towards Kapar.

Police are probing the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and urged those with information to contact investigating officer Ahmad Fadzli Abdullah at 017-5843860 or report to the nearest police station.
