Man Ditches 10yo Son At Jetty To Avoid Being Arrested In Drug Raid In Kedah

Left behind.
A father in Kedah shocked many after he jumped into the muddy waters near the Bisik Market Jetty to escape a raid by the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK), leaving his 10-year-old son behind.

The incident happened around 10am yesterday (Sept 23) when AADK Kedah officers launched a special operation known as ‘Ops Cegah Khas 3.0’ across several areas in the Kuala Muda district.

According to AADK, the man, believed to be a Nepalese national, panicked when he saw officers arriving and decided to leap into the muddy waters to flee.

Harian Metro reported that authorities believe he had brought his son along while he went to the jetty to take drugs.

Despite the raid, the man managed to crawl through the mud and escape towards the Penang border.

My mother is Indonesian but she does not live with us. She ran away with another man,” the child said.

In the same operation, a 31-year-old woman was arrested after testing positive for methamphetamine.

At the time, her husband was out at sea fishing and was not involved in drug abuse, AADK confirmed.

AADK Kedah Director Khairul Anwar Ahmad said the operation involved three officers and 16 AADK personnel.

A total of 37 people were tested and 35 of them were found positive for drugs. They were taken in for further action while two others were released.

“Those arrested were between 19 and 61 years old. Twenty-four of them tested positive for methamphetamine while 11 tested positive for opiates and morphine.

“Two were women while the rest were men. All were detained under Section 3(1)(a) of the Drug Dependents Act 1983 for treatment and rehabilitation,” he said.

Khairul Anwar added that the operation was conducted simultaneously across Kedah.

Apart from raids, AADK also carried out preventive measures and rehabilitation programs.

“To make sure clients stay drug-free, we also carry out home visits for those who fail to attend their programs,” he said.
