[VIDEO] “Have Some Common Sense” — Male Riders Criticised By KTMB For Using Female Coaches

Disappointing.

The Ladies Coach, which was first implemented by Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) in 2010, was meant to be fully reserved for female passengers within the train itself.

However, despite the visible pink signs displayed all over the train, it seems like some have chosen to turn a blind eye towards it.

KTMB recently posted a video on its Facebook page last Thursday (Aug 11), where it showed several men using the Ladies Coach and criticised them for deliberately using it

‘Please use your common sense’

The video, which was taken from a female passenger’s point of view, showed two male passengers using their phones while seated at the women’s coach, all while the pink signage with the words “This is the Ladies Coach. Women Only” is clearly displayed.

In the caption, KTMB’s social media administrator pleaded with the men who used its services to steer clear from the ladies’ coaches.

I (admin) am not asking for much, I am just asking for male KTM passengers to use other coaches.

The video has since garnered 101k views and 1.5k likes at the time of writing.

Netizens rally around KTMB

In the comment section, netizens flooded it with their views on the matter and their experiences in using the ladies’ coach.

Some called for stricter enforcement and officers to be onboard the train to prevent it from happening again.

“Please let the auxiliary police return to the Ladies Coach. At times, this gender (men) will either become illiterate or deaf all of a sudden. I swear they become rocks while sitting in the Ladies Coach. Some have even argued that they have paid taxes for it so they can sit wherever they please.”

“Always enforce the rules. Don’t just watch the behavior unfold and upload a video of it on social media as a reminder.”

On the other hand, some claimed that many female passengers tend to sit in normal coaches, resulting in many vacant seats in the ladies’ coach, to which KTMB replied: “We will be sure to ask them nicely to fill up the seats.”

Let’s all be considerate and comply to the rules whenever we take public transport, shall we?
