Popular influencer and cosmetics entrepreneur Syafiqah Aina recently shared her reasons for enrolling her child in a Chinese vernacular school (SJKC), saying it offers better discipline and teaches independence from an early age.
Thinks Chinese schools offer more advantages
In a recent Instastory post, Syafiqah Aina explained that she had long planned to send her children to SJKC due to the added language skills and strong academic foundation it offers.

She also pointed out that being fluent in Mandarin can open up more career opportunities in the future.
Early education helps brain development
According to her, young children are able to absorb knowledge more quickly.
Therefore, starting school early in an environment with multiple languages is a good way to build a strong foundation.
When kids are small, it’s easier for them to learn languages. Compared to learning a third language when they are older, this way they can absorb better,” she reportedly said.
Strict discipline and independence encouraged
Syafiqah Aina believes SJKC instills more discipline compared to other schools.
She also noted that children are taught to be independent from the start.

She shared that parents are not allowed to enter the school compound during the first days of school, and students must find their own classes and manage themselves.
“It’s a bit sad at first, but I understand the reason. It’s to help the kids manage on their own, like finding their class and eating by themselves,” she added.
Although her child is studying at a SJKC, Syafiqah Aina clarified that Malay remains the main language spoken at home.
She also observed positive changes in her child’s ability to speak English, thanks to the multilingual environment at school.
She also mentioned that her decision was supported by the experiences of family members, as her mother and some of her child’s cousins also attended SJKC, which made the preparation process easier.
Chooses government school over private
Syafiqah Aina said she has no plans to send her children to private or international schools. She wants them to experience the same public school system she and her husband went through.
“People say government schools offer more opportunities, more activities. Hopefully, my child can survive and enjoy it,” she added.
