For 37 years, she delivered food to the Gerik District Police Headquarters (IPD) every day without stopping, except on days where she fell sick.

Unfortunately, she breathed her last on Saturday (Sept 4) and was buried at the Tanah Perkuburan Islam Kampung Padang.

According to Juice Online, Saadiah began her noble routine as a way to remember her husband Alias Nik Daud, who died during a communist attack while working as a boat driver at the station in 1975.

Her youngest daughter, Wan Jelani Alias, was heartbroken by her passing and recalled how her mother would cycle 5km everyday just to deliver food.

For her entire life, she never forgot Dad’s sacrifice. She is the true hero of our hearts.

Wan Jelani also added that her mother’s health declined rapidly after suffering a stroke.

True determination

In 2012, Mak Cik Saadiah fell off her bicycle. However, she refused to let it stop her and resumed her delivery services by sending sweets and snacks instead of rice with dishes.

She even became a passenger on her child’s motorcycle while making deliveries in lieu of cycling. Talk about real determination!

Her legacy lives on

This year, local culinary company SAJI released a touching advertisement for Hari Raya and credited Mak Cik Saadiah as the inspiration for the ad.

She may be gone, but her legacy will continue to live on. Rest in peace, Mak Cik Saadiah. The world has become a better place thanks to your generosity.
