Roti John, a beloved Malaysian sandwich consisting of a long bread fried with egg, topped with minced meat, vegetables, and mayo, generally doesn’t exceed RM10. Roti John is a common and popular item found at Ramadan bazaars.
However, a recent post on Twitter shared that a store is selling a pair of Roti Johns for a whopping RM91, sparking intense debate online.

Not your ordinary Roti John
But clearly, the RM91 Roti John isn’t your typical sandwich.
This “luxurious version” features Korean fried chicken and American steak. They use a 12-inch charcoal-grilled French bread, Australian Philadelphia cheese beef ribs, and boneless chicken fillet with a unique Korean sauce.
The RM91 price tag is for a combo containing two Roti Johns, which can serve 4 to 5 people.

The video posted by a TikTok influencer showcase the generous portion size, emphasizing that the price is justified by the delicious taste and premium ingredients.
While some netizens argued that a regular RM8 Roti John is sufficient for 2 to 3 people, others defended the luxury version, stating that it’s a matter of personal choice.
Some netizens argued that spending 91 MYR on Roti John is excessive, pointing out that the amount could cover the cost of meals for three days.

Despite this, others defended the luxury version, stating that it’s a matter of personal choice and that the premium ingredients justify the price.
