A group of monkeys at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) has gone viral after they were caught “having fun” in the hostel laundry area, swinging on clotheslines, climbing racks and even hanging upside down like acrobats.
The incident was shared on TikTok by user @akiu_u, who captured a troop of monkeys moving freely around the men’s hostel drying area.
Becoming a “monkey playground”
The video shows the animals walking along the clotheslines, flipping and dangling from them, turning the space into what many described as an impromptu “monkey playground”.

The uploader joked that monkeys were so common in the UKM hostel area that it felt like “a mini zoo”.
I do not dare to hang my clothes here anymore. Four of my underwear have already been taken into the forest.” he added
Netizens share their own encounters
The video quickly drew laughter and sympathy from netizens, many of whom shared their own experiences of dealing with monkeys on campus.
“The clothesline is useless now. It has become a gymnastics training area.”

“Feels like they are the ones going to the zoo to look at you all in the cage.”

“Ask the seniors who already graduated… did they never finish playing Jumanji?”
