Lorry driver found a human skull in the drain, investigation ongoing

Could it be from the lab?

Georgetown: A human skull was found in a drain near premises on Makloom Road yesterday.

The discovery of the object was made by a lorry driver who was resting near his workplace at 3.30 pm.

North East District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Soffian Santong said that the 22-year-old man saw the object in the drain before informing his employer.

He also said that as a result of police inspection, the object is believed to be a human skull measuring about 0.91 meters.

“The Forensic Team and the K9 Unit of the Penang Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK) were also present at the scene to investigate.

“The skull was then sent to the Penang Hospital (HPP) for further action,” he said today.

Soffian said his department would investigate the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage at the scene.

He said that the case was preliminarily classified as sudden death (SDR).

“Anyone with related information can contact the nearest police station to assist in the investigation,” he said.
