Last Friday (Jan 6), the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) announced that there will be a 50% discount for traffic fines starting Jan 10 to Jan 12.
However, it’s only applicable for those who make physical payments at the Jalan Tun H S Lee Traffic Station.
Long queues at traffic station
According to photos provided to us by a reader, scores of people were seen lining up at the Jalan Tun H S Lee traffic station, where it snaked across the pavement for several metres.
Many of them have lined up since lunch hour as they waited for the station to reopen at 2pm.
Right near the entrance, a sign was placed to show those looking to enjoy the discount a list of traffic offences that weren’t eligible.
‘Why no online payment?’
On the other hand, some were unhappy with the fact that online payment wasn’t made available and urged JSPT to consider doing so.
One netizen expressed her disappointment at finding out that she wasn’t entitled to the discount after lining up for two hours.
