‘Like Paying House Instalments’ – M’sian Woman Rants Over RM342 She Paid For Subpar Food At PD Restaurant

It’s one thing to pay a hefty price for good food, but for it to be both overpriced and tasteless? Now that’s a double blow.

A Malaysian woman recently shared her frustration after being charged a staggering RM342.25 for a disappointing meal at a restaurant in Port Dickson.

The incident was shared by X user, @minaazaini, who posted a scathing review of both the food and the service at the restaurant, expressing her dissatisfaction with how much she was charged, given the quality of the meal.

In her caption, she didn’t hold back, stating, “This is a heartache review because not only was the food bad, the price felt like I was paying for a house instalment!”

According to her post, one of the dishes that stood out (but for all the wrong reasons) was the Pari Bakar, which cost RM93.50 for a medium-sized portion.

She described the dish as overcooked, burnt, and as hard as “the shell of a tank.”

She added, “If the fish was fresh and cooked well, I wouldn’t mind paying. But the grilled sambal? Bland, like they just brushed it with syrup. They may as well not have added it at all.”

As for the ‘Kerang Bakar’, priced at RM63.75 for two plates, she called it an embarrassment, saying, “You can barely call this grilled clams. It’s more like sambal clams. Bland, again!”

The steamed fish was described as “okay,” neither great nor terrible.

However, the the fried squid was perhaps the only saving grace of the meal, though even that had its moment: “Finally, something that didn’t make my throat protest, although I almost ended up in the ICU because it got stuck in my throat.”

The poor food wasn’t the only issue.

The service left much to be desired. According to the woman, the rice ran out long before the main dishes were served, leaving her wondering if she was dining at a restaurant or taking part in a patience test.

Despite there being plenty of staff around, she noted that most were standing around doing nothing, jokingly comparing them to Barbie dolls.

To top it all off, when she complained to the cashier, she was met with a dismissive response: “That’s normal, sis.”

Normal? she questioned, wondering what kind of standard the restaurant was operating on.

She even pointed out the confusing receipt, which was filled with the word “depo” all over it, making it look more like a cryptic code than a clear bill.

The woman ended her review by saying, “We know it’s a holiday destination, and prices can be steep, but at least make the price hike logical. If the food is good, no one would mind paying, but this just felt like paying extra for stress. Please, improve the chef and the service!”
