“Like Going To McD When You’re Craving For KFC” — Anthony Loke Chides Wee Ka Siong Over RM3k Flight Ticket Claim

Former and current Transport Ministers' showdown.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke has taken a swipe at his predecessor Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong over the latter’s claim of Malaysians having to pay more than RM3,000 for a flight ticket.

Speaking to reporters during a press conference today, Loke said Wee was confusing the public with his claim and had failed to check the flight ticket price properly.

The former minister must know that Malaysia Airlines (MAG) has its own app. If you wish to check MAG tickets, why (go to) the AirAsia app? It’s like wanting to buy KFC, but going to McDonald’s.

“If Wee had made steps to check other apps, the answer would be very different,” he said as quoted by The Vibes.

Loke added that while he’s not discounting Wee’s concerns, he said that Wee should instead focus on educating the public on how to check prices smartly instead of seeking to “gain brownie points”.

This comes after it was revealed that Wee had used AirAsia’s Super App to check for a one-way Malaysia Airlines economy ticket from Kuala Lumpur to Tawau.

Invited Wee to send passengers off

Loke also posed a challenge to Wee by inviting him to send off a group of passengers of a fixed-fare KL-Tawau flight this coming Thursday (Apr 20) to prove his claim of exorbitant flight tickets.

“It is RM249 for all tickets (on the flight) with 185 passengers. If he does not believe such a low fare, I invite him to interview each and every passenger on Thursday night,” said Loke.

The ongoing spat between the two began yesterday when Wee said that Malaysians allegedly had to pay RM3,138 for a ticket. In response, Loke said that it was meant for business class as all economy class tickets were sold out.
