Light Aircraft Crashes In Ipoh, Leaves Pilot Dead & Co-Pilot Severely Injured

It was having a night training flight prior to the crash.

A pilot has died while the co-pilot was left badly injured after the light aircraft they were in crashed on Jalan Dr Nazrin Shah-Sg Rokam.

The Vibes reported that the incident took place at 8pm and a team from the Perak Fire and Rescue Department were dispatched to the scene after they were alerted of the crash 10 minutes later.

The deceased was later identified as Fajim Juffa Mustafa Kamal, 52, while the co-pilot was Muhammad Din Fikri Zainal Abidin, 62, after they were pulled out from the aircraft.

In a Facebook post by Transport Minister Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong, he said that the co-pilot is currently receiving treatment at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital.

He added that the aircraft was undergoing a night training flight and he was notified of the tragedy by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) and Air Accident Investigation Bureau.

“CAAM and AAIB will be investigating this incident in-depth in accordance with Part XXVI Civil Aviation Regulations 2016.

“It is very tragic for this incident to have occurred and we must do everything we can to ascertain the causes and ensure more safety,” he wrote.
