‘Lesser Delay, Lower Payment’ – M’sia To Implement New Summon Payment System In 2026

Drivers who pay their saman within the first 15 days will enjoy discounts of up to 50%.
Starting January 1, 2026, a new rule called “The Less You Delay, The Less You Pay” will be used.

In short, the faster you pay your traffic summons, the cheaper it will be. If you delay, you will end up paying more.

Under the new system, drivers who pay their saman within the first 15 days will enjoy the highest discount rate of 50%, making it the cheapest period to settle a compound.

If payment is made between 16 to 30 days, the discount will be reduced to 33%. After 31 to 60 days, there will be no discount at all, and motorists will have to pay the full amount.

But after 60 days, there will be no discount at all, and the case may go to court or even lead to you being blacklisted.

Fairer to all

The government says this system is fairer because it rewards people who pay on time, instead of letting everyone wait for big discount campaigns.

Before the new system starts, there will be a transition period from November 1, 2025 to December 30, 2025.

During this period, Malaysians can still enjoy 50% to 70% discounts for existing JPJ and PDRM compoundable summons. But once 2026 kicks in, there will be no more special discount campaigns.

The government also said this rule will not apply to serious offences, such as driving without an insurance or using fake licence documents.

Drivers can check and pay their summons through MySikap, MyJPJ, MyBayar PDRM, or any JPJ/PDRM counters and kiosks.

The Transport Ministry also urged motorists to settle any overdue summons before December 30 and expressed hope that this new approach will encourage safer and more disciplined driving.
