On July 20, 6-year-old Leo Jia Hui was abducted from an event in Johor Bahru, sparking an intense three-day search across the country by the authorities.
While she was thankfully found in an unhurt condition at a hotel in Batang Kali, Selangor, the same cannot be said for her mental state as she’s reportedly suffering from psychological trauma as a result of the kidnapping.
Leo Jia Hui seeking help from psychologist, says mum
The startling news was revealed by Jia Hui’s mum Leo Qieo Xin, who posted two videos pointing to her daughter’s ongoing treatment.
In the first video, it showed her posing for a photo with Jia Hui along with the caption “Jia Hui, you can do it” in Mandarin.
In the second clip, it showed several patients waiting for their turn at a children specialist clinic, with the caption reading: “Jia Hui, Mummy will be with you. You will definitely recover one day.”
When a netizen asked whether Jia Hui had fallen sick, her mother replied to the comment by revealing that the 6-year-old was seeing a psychologist as she was suffering from “severe psychological trauma”.
Currently, police are still trying to establish the motives behind Jia Hui’s kidnapping, with one of the suspects being arrested for the second time after explicit material involving children were found at his home in Kulai.
The case has also taken a much darker turn after police revealed that a crime syndicate  involving child pornography may have played a role in the kidnapping.
