Losing a pet is never easy, even for someone who once led the country.
On July 14, former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak shared that his beloved cat Kiky had passed away, breaking the news through a heartfelt Facebook post accompanied by several photos of their time together.

“Kiky’s no longer with us”
In the post, Najib thanked God for allowing Kiky to be part of his life, describing her as sweet and affectionate.
He shared how she would faithfully wait for him at the door every day after work, a daily routine that brought him comfort and joy.
He ended his message with a simple yet emotional farewell: “Rest now, Kiky.”
Netizens send condolences
Many Malaysians, especially fellow cat lovers, flooded the comments with words of sympathy.
“Poor Kiky… Bossku loved her the most.”

“I know how it feels to lose a beloved cat.”

“Sorry for your loss, boss… Malaysia misses you, sir.”

The post offered a rare glimpse into Najib’s personal side and his bond with his furry companion, who had clearly brought him much love and comfort over the years.
Though Kiky may no longer be by his side, the love she gave and the space she held in his heart, will surely be remembered for years to come.
