Ever wondered which country serves up the best version of KFC fried chicken?
Just ask Kamlesh Mistry, the first ever KFC superfan who has visited its outlets at more than 50 countries worldwide!
Named the world’s first KFC Superfan
The 37-year-old from Watford, whose love for the fast food chain began at the age of 12, embarked on an epic journey to visit as many KFC outlets as possible, resulting in him travelling to more than 50 countries, reported Daily Mail.
This has since earned him the honour of being the world’s first KFC Superfan in 2020 along with a year’s free supply of chicken in the form of electronic vouchers worth £400 (approximately RM2069.80), KFC dressing gowns, face masks and t-shirts.
Among all of the prizes won, Kamlesh’s favourite is a custom-made porcelain bargain bucket with his face plastered on it.
‘Travel is a real passion of mine and it started when I was younger and my parents would always take us away to experience new cultures that were different to my British Indian culture.
‘From that, and combined with my love of KFC, whenever we started travelling to other places with my friends and family I would always like to find a KFC to compare the differences with the UK menu,” he said.
‘KL has the best menu’
When asked which country’s he thought has the best KFC, Kamlesh said that it was in Kuala Lumpur.
Kuala Lumpur definitely had the most interesting menu. I love my spicy food and they had a lot of spicy alternatives.
“Reykjavik was by far the strangest KFC I have ever been to – I was just so surprised when I saw one there.”
As for Jaina, Kamlesh’s wife whom he met via an online dating site, said that both of them shared the same love for food and worldwide cuisine, adding that KFC wasn’t initially part of the list.
She soon came to learn of his obsession over the fast food chain when he requested to have his 25th birthday cake modelled on the KFC bargain bucket.
However, she said that she has no problems with his unorthodox passion as long as he doesn’t eat KFC everyday.
“At times, I think he likes it too much but not more than my cooking, otherwise there would be trouble!” she remarked with a laugh.
