Massage parlours who are caught offering services outside of the norm and found to be ‘immoral’ will risk having their license revoked by the Kedah state government.
This was announced by Kedah Chief Minister Mohd Sanusi Md. Nor during a press conference after chairing the weekly Exco state government meeting yesterday (June 21).
Massage parlours that offer ‘immoral’ services to be suspended
In the press conference, Sanusi said that massage parlours in the state are to ensure that their premises do not violate the terms and conditions of their license by providing services which aren’t included or are illegal, reported Astro Awani.
This decision was implemented due to reports of ‘other’ activities taking place in these premises, leading to activities that contradict moral values.
Sanusi added that with the upcoming state elections and dissolving of the state assembly, the authorities will step up their monitoring efforts to prevent ‘immoral’ activities from taking place.
“If it reveals that unauthorized activities are still taking place, the licenses will not be renewed, and we will shut down those centers. We will also examine the provisions under the law to cease issuing licenses for such centers,” he said.
Meanwhile, state Religious, Education and Human Resources Committee chairman Datuk Najmi Ahmad said unhealthy activities occurring in massage parlors and reflexology centers were the main reason behind the crackdown.
“If these immoral activities are not prevented, they will worsen as it affects young people and students,” he said.
