JOHOR BAHRU – The Johor Public Transport Corporation (PAJ) announced that the Rapid Transit System (RTS) project that connects Bukit Chagar, Johor Bahru to Woodlands, Singapore, is expected to operate by the end of 2026.
A video by PAJ shows the Johor-Singapore Causeway having a daily commute rate of 350,000 people, with traffic congestion beginning as early as 4 am.

However, with the new RTS system in place, it is expected to ease congestion over the causeway significantly as it can accommodate up to 10,000 passengers per hour.

Bukit Chagar was selected as the RTS Terminal as it is slated to become the transportation hub between Malaysia and Singapore, reducing travelling time to only six minutes.

The RTS will only require a one-time customs clearance at the Sultan Iskandar Building (CIQ), making it more convenient and smoother than the current procedure.
The RTS Terminal will also incorporate three major elements – modernity, efficiency, and speed. For its interior, PAJ assured that it would be designed to provide comfort for users without feeling claustrophobic.
