Catching a celebrity in real life is a rare occasion, and having someone who shares similar facial features with the celebrity is also equally as rare, though not uncommon.
An owner of a fishing gear shop in Kemaman, Terengganu, had netizens fooled into thinking that the famed actor Jackie Chan had actually stopped by his shop, only for them to realise that it was a prank.
Is Jackie Chan really in town?
In a photo posted by the fishing gear shop named VLUQ Fishing Studio – VFS on its Facebook page on Mar 14, it showed Jackie Chan donned in a maroon prayer robe and kopiah while holding a roll of fishing line in his hand.
To add on to the suspense, the owner wrote the following in the caption:
Thank you to everyone who came to our shop yesterday. But today we have a customer who’s a bit different. His face seems very familiar. Those who know will know who it is.
However, on a closer look, it turned out that the owner had actually photoshopped Jackie Chan’s face onto his own as a joke.
‘You had me fooled!’
The post quickly went viral and netizens expressed amusement over being tricked into thinking that Jackie Chan had really arrived in Malaysia.
‘I really believed Jackie Chan went for terawih prayers.’
‘Since when was Jackie Chan a fan of fishing?’
Netizens also came up with creative names for Jackie Chan based on his ‘conversion’ to Islam.
