Tourist claims SG is not worth visiting
In a viral TikTok posted by @emma_a_cosmos2, a tourist was asked, “What’s one country you’d never visit?” Her answer caught many off guard — Singapore.
The video, which quickly spread across social media, shows her confidently naming the city-state without hesitation. Her response sparked surprise and curiosity from viewers.
With over 350 comments, the clip ignited a heated discussion online. Many were eager to know what led to such a strong opinion.
“No history nor personality”
She later explained that Singapore simply wasn’t her cup of tea, citing its lack of personality and history as the main reasons.
Before her trip, she had imagined uncovering stories from centuries past, perhaps through ancient temples, colonial buildings, or traces of old-world charm.
Instead, she was met with gleaming skyscrapers. While impressive, it all felt a little too polished for her liking. She described the city as “cold,” lacking the warmth and soul she typically seeks in her travels.

“You are absolutely right. Singaporean here and it’s a boring country because we are a modern metropolis. We don’t like old stuff that much.” said a Singaporean.
“I’m Singaporean, and I get what she’s saying. There aren’t many old buildings or historic sites left, many have been demolished. We also don’t see much about our history during the rule of Sang Nila Utama; he did more than just change the name from Temasek to Singapore. Some people say Singapore is only 65 years old, but she’s talking about ancient or old history — and that includes everything before, during, or after colonisation.”
“You need to do your research before visiting. It’s important to align your expectations with what you’re actually planning to see. For example, if someone is looking for ancient history but ends up at Marina Bay Sands, then… well, that’s on them.”
