A couple had a terrifying brush with death when an iron rod suddenly fell from above and pierced through the windscreen of their moving car along the Besraya Highway.
The incident was shared on TikTok, who showed footage of their Proton X50 with a large iron rod lodged in the shattered windscreen.
The shocking incident
According to her, she and her husband were on their way home after lunch and running errands when the accident occurred.
They were driving from Sungai Buloh towards Putrajaya and had just passed an elevated section of the Besraya Highway when a loud bang shocked them.

Moments later, they saw an iron rod sticking out of their windscreen, with glass fragments scattered inside the car.
“The sound of the impact and the glass shattering was extremely frightening. What made it worse was that we were inside a moving vehicle at the time!
“Luckily, my husband was driving slowly and stayed calm when it happened,” she said.
Couple left shaken but safe
The woman added that the tempered glass film on the windscreen played a crucial role in stopping the rod from fully penetrating inside, sparing them from serious injury.
Although her husband remained composed during the ordeal, the couple admitted they were still badly shaken.

We even drove into the wrong toll lane because we were too nervous,” she recalled, adding that they had to stop at the roadside to clear out broken glass from inside the car.
Her husband later lodged a police report over the incident.
Calls for accountability
Following the video, netizens urged the couple to seek compensation from the highway operator.
Some pointed out that in previous cases, motorists had successfully received claims when their vehicles were damaged by flying objects from road maintenance works.
‘You can claim insurance from the highway company because I’ve done it before when my windscreen cracked… caused by workers cutting grass…”

‘In this kind of case, can you sue the toll company?’

‘This is dangerous, you can make a report about that site.’
