Animal abuse continues to run rampant in Malaysia, where innocent animals are subjected to unspeakable cruelty despite posing no threat to the public.
A viral clip on Twitter recently showed two men armed with sticks beating a dog to death which had a broken leg and sought shelter inside a drain.

In a 36-second clip shared on Twitter by user @syhmiee, it showed two men holding a wooden stick and long staff beating and jabbing viciously at a dog by a drain, causing the animal to yelp in pain.
According to the caption, the dog was crossing a village road in the night and was run down by a motorcycle, where it sustained a broken leg and ran into a drain to hide.

Unfortunately, the dog met a painful end as the two men in the clip dragged it out from the drain and began to bludgeon it, leading to its death.

3 suspects arrested
Following a public outcry, police worked to hunt down the suspects who beat the dog to death.
In a statement issued by Penang police, the incident took place in Kampung Telok Tempoyak, Batu Maung last Saturday (July 8) at 8.38pm.
The case is now being investigated under Section 29(1) of the Animal Welfare Act 2015 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act.
Under Section 29(1) of the Animal Welfare Act 2015, those found guilty will face a maximum fine of RM100,000, a 3-year jail sentence, or both.
As for Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act, it carries a RM50,000 fine, imprisonment for up to one year, or both upon conviction.
The Star later reported that three men aged between 40 and 53 were arrested yesterday (July 9) and today.
Penang police chief Datuk Khaw Kok Chin said all three tested negative for drugs and had no criminal records.
