A Indonesian woman who wanted to achieve fairer skin experienced the total opposite after she used a skincare product that claimed to offer rapid whitening results but contained mercury in it.
According to a TikTok video posted by the woman known as @nurnnyas”, her skin became severely discolored after using the product for a year.
However, she thought it was due to exposing her skin to the sun while working outdoors.
Unfortunately, not only did her skin not become fairer, but it actually caused it to become darker each day, prompting her to discontinue the product.
After three years of agony, she finally sought medical treatment from a dermatologist, who told her that the skincare product’s mercury content, along with direct sun exposure, had caused her skin to turn black.
The woman then told viewers to be more careful when using skincare products and stay away from those that contain hazardous substances like mercury.
