In a heartwarming display of compassion and humanity, a prison officer in Indonesia has shown that even behind bars, small acts of kindness can turn a day brighter.
This comes after a prison guard threw a surprise for an inmate on his birthday by buying him pizza.
Indonesian guard surprises inmate with pizza
In the heartwarming TikTok video, the guard named Ferdinand Malambae is seen casually entering the prison cell and talking to other inmates.
Suddenly, Ferdinand turned to Boyok (the man whose birthday was on that day) and asked, “You’ve been saying some negative stuff about me recently, haven’t you?”
Boyok vehemently denied it, so Ferdinand turned around to ask the other inmates whether Boyok was the one who talked behind his back.
Unknown to Boyok, the other inmates were all part of the prank and played along by confirming that Boyok had indeed been saying bad things about Ferdinand without his knowledge.
Ferdinand then taunted Boyok by saying, “Just because you’ve got a big physique, did you underestimate me? That’s quite unappreciative.”
He then followed it up by asking Boyok how old he was, to which he replied, “20 years old.”
“Today is your birthday, right?’ asked Ferdinand. After Boyok said yes, everyone started to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ aloud.
Upon hearing it, Boyok burst into tears and Ferdinand is seen bringing several boxes of pizza with a candle on top.
When told to make a wish before blowing the candle out, Boyok said that he hopes to “repent properly”.
After that, the pizza was shared among the other inmates as well.
