‘I’m An Influencer!’ – Man With 40K Followers Tries To Dodge RM53 Nasi Kandar Bill But Fails

Restaurant stands firm: review or not, bill must be paid.
Being an influencer may come with perks but expecting free food from a restaurant you weren’t even invited to is another story.

A well-known nasi kandar restaurant recently shared how a man, claiming to be an influencer, attempted to get a free meal for himself and his family in exchange for a TikTok review.

According to the owner, the customer approached him before eating and immediately introduced himself as an influencer with around 40,000 followers on TikTok. He then implied that because of his “status”, he should be allowed to dine for free.

A customer came with his family. Before eating, he told me ‘I am an influencer’, and showed me his TikTok account with about 40K followers,” the owner wrote.

“Then he said he didn’t need to pay because he would make a video about NKS.”

However, the owner firmly refused and clarified that reviews are entirely up to the customer but the meal must still be paid for, especially since the restaurant never invited him.

“Being an influencer doesn’t mean you don’t have to pay. If 10 people did what he did, I would go bankrupt,” he added jokingly, saying the total bill was RM53.

Even after eating, the man continued insisting, telling the owner once again, “I am an influencer,” hoping to get the meal for free. But the owner stood his ground and still requested payment.

Many netizens applauded the restaurant for not giving in, saying some influencers today have started to misuse their small online following to demand free products and services.

Others questioned the influencer’s ethics, pointing out that a proper collaboration should only happen when a business invites you not when you show up and demand perks.
