US President Donald Trump has announced that he will travel to Malaysia as part of his Asia tour, which also includes stops in Japan and South Korea.
“I’ll be in Malaysia, I’ll be in Japan,” Trump declared during a media briefing at the White House, marking the first time he has publicly confirmed a visit to Malaysia and Japan, according to Kyodo News.
According to The Edge Malaysia, Malaysia is gearing up to host the 47th ASEAN Summit from October 26 to 28, 2025, and the timing of Trump’s visit appears to coincide with the high-profile gathering of regional and global leaders.

The summit will bring together heads of state and government from across Southeast Asia, including leaders from India, Brazil, Vietnam, Singapore and more, as well as important dialogues with major powers such as the US, China and India.
For Malaysia, hosting Trump adds a major diplomatic spotlight.
