M’sian Man Moves To KL With Only RM90 To Sell Vegetables So His 3yo Child Won’t Go Hungry

He became a single father after the separation.
At just 26 years old, Muhammad Amjad Jamaludin has already gone through several difficult chapters in life.

From separating from his former wife on the second day of Hari Raya this year to moving to KL with only RM90 in hand, the young father said he has never regretted what he has gone through.

Instead, he sees every hardship as part of life’s journey and fate.

Became a single father

Muhammad Amjad is now a single father to his three year old daughter, Ayla Sofea.

According to Harian Metro, his daughter has been under the care of his family since he moved to the capital last year to look for better work opportunities.

His story recently gained attention online after he shared a photo of himself sitting alone at a vegetable stall, along with a caption describing it as “a man’s lowest point”.

Many netizens later flooded the comment section with words of encouragement, praising his efforts and praying for his livelihood to improve.

Worked various jobs to survive

Looking back on his journey, Muhammad Amjad said he had taken on many jobs to make ends meet.

He previously worked at a car wash, a vehicle painting shop, helped with his family’s business at night markets, and also worked at a courier company’s warehouse.

As the youngest of three siblings, he eventually decided to leave for the city because he wanted to step out of his comfort zone.

At the time, he only had RM90 with him.

Now works at a factory in Subang Bestari

His effort eventually paid off when he managed to secure a job as a production operator at a factory near Subang Bestari, Shah Alam.

He has now been working there for about a year.

Before this, Muhammad Amjad said he had helped his family run their business, including operating at a food shop and night markets.

However, like many small businesses, they faced ups and downs and eventually could not sustain the business. One of the reasons they stopped, he said, was due to rising rental costs.

Shared his lowest point online

Speaking about the post that went viral, Muhammad Amjad said it showed one of the lowest phases in his life.

At the time, he and his family could only sell long beans, spinach, and water spinach.

The money earned from the sales was only enough to buy fertiliser for their crops and daily necessities.

He said he had only intended to share his experience, and did not expect the post to gain attention from many people, including netizens from Indonesia.

‘I can eat once a day, but not my child’

Despite everything he has gone through, Muhammad Amjad said life must go on.

As a father, his main focus now is to earn enough to raise his daughter and give her a better life.

Now, I only think about finding money to raise my child. It is okay if I eat once a day, but not my child,” he said.

For now, Muhammad Amjad rents a room and is grateful that his mother helps take care of his daughter, even though she is also unwell due to nerve problems.

Muhammad Amjad said that if given the opportunity one day, he hopes to run his own business again.

His goal is to lift his family out of hardship, especially as his parents are currently staying in a house with the help of a kind individual.

“I have never regretted anything because I believe what I have gone through in life is part of a journey and fate written by God.”
