‘I Thought WFH Already?’— M’sians Puzzled As Traffic Gets Worse Despite Civil Servants Working From Home

Stress.
Traffic across parts of the Klang Valley remained heavily congested despite expectations that fewer people would be on the road due to a work from home arrangement for civil servants.

Photos shared online showed long stretches of vehicles crawling along highways, including routes near Putra Heights and towards Putrajaya.

“Thought today WFH already?”

In a Threads post, a user questioned whether she had gotten the date wrong, pointing out that traffic seemed worse than usual.

She joked that the congestion was so bad that even multiple oil tankers would not be enough to keep up with fuel demand.

The post quickly drew attention, with many Malaysians saying they experienced similar conditions during their morning commute.

Several netizens claimed their travel time increased significantly, with one saying it took at least 30 minutes longer than normal.

Others said they ran into traffic the moment they left home, while some mentioned hearing reports of multiple accidents on the radio.

Not everyone is working from home

Some commenters suggested that the WFH arrangement may not apply to all civil servants, as implementation could depend on individual departments.

Others pointed out that private sector employees are still required to work from the office, which could explain why roads remain busy.

There were also claims that certain bosses still expect staff to come in unless officially instructed otherwise.

Netizens also highlighted that schools are still operating as usual, which means parents continue to be on the road during peak hours.

With multiple groups still commuting at the same time, traffic conditions appear largely unchanged for now.
