“I Only Want To Sleep Peacefully Without Debt,” Khairul Aming Shares Smart Financial Tips We All Need to Learn

"Despite earning millions, money’s never enough."

“No matter how much you earn, your expenditures seem to climb proportionally. At the end of the day, the more you have, the more you want, leaving one restless at night,” shares Khairul Amin, the charismatic entrepreneur who rose to fame as a ‘netizen chef’.

Despite his primary product, Sambal Nyet, making millions in sales, Khairul doesn’t live the flashy life of a millionaire.

During a live stream, Khairul’s grounded response raised eyebrows.

‘Money is never enough’

“It’s undeniable that with wealth comes desire. But, for me, I cherish contentment. I spend within my means, and while I might not save much, I sleep peacefully at night,” he shared, adding, “If I had an income of RM1 million and impulsively bought a RM700,000 sports car, I’d be sleepless with the burden of monthly repayments.”

Khairul emphasizes his choice to live a tranquil life over one steeped in debt. “I haven’t slept properly in 5 years, constantly working hard to clear debts. Now, free from financial burdens, all I crave is calm sleep.”

However, Khairul isn’t entirely ‘carefree’.

He acknowledges the responsibility of managing his business, ensuring consistent income, and taking care of his employees.

Pursue life over luxury

When asked about his current loans, he reveals, “The only outstanding loan I have is for a Bezza car. All other loans, including the one for my factory, are cleared. If you visit my factory, all the machines worth millions are now fully paid for and belong to me.”

While Khairul doesn’t own a house or luxury cars, with the Bezza car being for his mother, he sees his factory as his chief asset.

“Some view homes as their primary asset. But for me, my factory brings income. If anything happens to my sambal business or even to me, my family can rely on selling these assets for sustenance.”

As a surprising endnote, when asked about a world where his brand and business no longer resonate, Khairul displays an unyielding spirit.

“Even if the entire Malaysian populace turns against my brand, my factory, being certified and legitimate, can still function. We can pivot and manufacture other products for the market.”
