A tragic murder case has shaken the nation after a mother and her eldest son were allegedly killed by her second son.
Just weeks before the incident, the victim, Vernita Boon, had shared a heartfelt Mother’s Day video created by the same eldest son — a gesture that now stands as a painful reminder of love and loss.
A loving video from her eldest son
In May this year, Vernita, a Chinese primary school teacher, posted a short Mother’s Day video made by her eldest child.
Despite not being able to celebrate the occasion, she wrote how grateful and moved she was to receive such a meaningful gift.
“Thank you for making a short video for me as a Mother’s Day gift this year,” she wrote.
Although we couldn’t celebrate, I’m very happy because it’s the first time I’ve received a video made by my own family.”
She ended the post with a touching wish for her children:
“Hope you will be obedient, grow up healthy and happy, and become useful people. Love you all!”
Eldest son also killed
It has since been confirmed that the eldest son, who made the video, was also a victim in the tragedy.
Both Vernita and her son were found dead in a case now believed to involve her second son.

She had recently lost her husband
Sources also revealed that Vernita had been a single parent since January 2025, after the passing of her husband.
