A man in Singapore recently shared a lighthearted yet relatable blunder after purchasing a collapsible water bottle from a 7-Eleven outlet — only to find out it doesn’t collapse when filled with water.
Posting in the Complaint Singapore Facebook group, he admitted he “felt so dumb” about the purchase.
Tried sample in store
According to his post, he noticed the 500ml bottle at a 7-Eleven store and saw a sample unit on display.
The packaging claimed it could collapse to a size “smaller than your iPhone” when folded.

Intrigued, he tested the sample in-store, stretching and compressing it with ease. However, one question nagged at him — how would it collapse if there was water inside?
A lesson learned
After buying the bottle and bringing it home, he poured water into it and discovered the answer: it can’t.
The man realised the bottle was only collapsible when empty. Still, he took it in good humour.
But ok lah. When I drink finish the water, can collapse it so won’t take up space in my bag,” he joked.

Netizens’ comment
Many netizens were amused by his logic and flocked to the comments section to leave witty remarks.
