The hippo opened its mouth wide. The visitor had the fruit ready.
What could possibly go wrong? Quite a few throws, apparently.
A video posted on TikTok by @salindamungkhon shows a zoo visitor trying to toss fruit into a hippopotamus’s mouth, only to miss repeatedly.
Mouth wide open, fruit nowhere inside
With the hippo waiting in the water with its jaws wide open, the visitor took aim.
And missed.
She tried again. Still no luck.
It was not just one or two unsuccessful attempts either. Despite the rather generous target, she kept failing to land the fruit inside its mouth.
The hippo, meanwhile, continued holding its mouth open as the visitor tried to get her aim right.
Hippo appears to call it a day
Eventually, the visitor prepared for yet another toss.
But this time, the hippo closed its mouth.
It then shook its head in the water, looking almost as though it had decided the feeding session was over.
Of course, we cannot know what the hippo was thinking. But the timing made it look hilariously fed up, leaving viewers amused by its seemingly sulky reaction.
The fruit was ready. The aim was not. And apparently, the hippo had waited long enough.
