The Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) official results were released two days ago (June 10), bringing much relief and joy for those who scored excellent grades.
For Muhammad Syahrul Aiman bin Muhd Shahrudin, it was instead a heartbreaking affair despite scoring flying colours as he could not share his achievements with his mother, who passed away last April.

Syahrul posted a tweet to share his story after he received his SPM results:
“I did it, Mama. I really wanted to show you this. I love you, Ma.”

According to an interview with Mothership, Syahrul credited his mother as his greatest supporter who helped him prepare as much as she could for SPM.
“She bought me all the books I needed and also an iPad for me to attend online classes,” he said.
As a result, he scored straight-As for the exam and did not let his mother’s efforts be in vain.

Sadly, he was unable to share his joy with his mother after she succumbed to lung failure. He now lives with his father along with two younger siblings.

As for his career prospects, Syahrul said he is interested in studying aviation, data science and engineering. He has also applied for several scholarships and is now waiting for a reply.
Syahrul also had a word of encouragement for his fellow SPM mates:
“Study hard as much as you play hard. Pearls don’t lie on the seashore. If you want one, you must dive for it.”
