Becoming a content creator is not as easy as one thinks as it requires lots of patience, consistency, and the ability to withstand criticism and online hate.
At just 24 years old, Ravi Zephyr has become a familiar face to millions, captivating audiences with his relatable humor on TikTok. Yet, his path to success was anything but conventional.
From TikTok hater to creator
Back in 2022, Ravi was an engineering student on a seemingly predetermined path with no clue on how everything was going to turn out. Like many young adults, he was merely fulfilling expectations to secure a stable future in the corporate world.
He also hated the thought of spending hours on TikTok and refused to join the trend like the others during the Covid-19 pandemic. Little did he know the script was going to flip on him.
This came in the emotional form of his uncle passing away, a tragedy which shook his family and left them grappling with grief. During this time, Ravi and his sister discovered TikTok as a tool not to achieve fame, but to heal.
“My sister and I started making videos as a distraction from the pain we were feeling,” Ravi reflected. “We never expected our casual posts to resonate with the wider audience as it merely was a way for us to stay connected as a family and process our emotions creatively.
For the first time, we found a platform where we could laugh, share, and, most importantly, move forward.”
Viral breakthrough & rising stardom
Ravi’s TikTok breakthrough came when he made a video about “Roti Jantan,” a lighthearted take on the popular local dish. It didn’t take long for the video to go viral, effectively thrusting Ravi into the spotlight and earning him a loyal following seemingly overnight.
Though unprepared for the sudden wave of attention, Ravi quickly found his footing as a content creator thanks to his natural wit and ability to connect with his audience, which set him apart in an increasingly crowded space.

Despite his success, Ravi acknowledges that being a full-time creator is not without its challenges, where transitioning from student life to content creation meant adjusting to an entirely new routine too.
It’s easy to feel like you’re stuck on a treadmill, constantly chasing the next idea. The pressure to stay relevant and meet audience expectations can be daunting.”
Ravi has also faced difficulties as a creator in a space where Indian representation is limited and often finds himself navigating through stereotypes or being overlooked in certain settings.
Nevertheless, these experiences have motivated him to use his platform to promote diversity and challenge existing biases.

Now at the forefront of TikTok’s creator community, Ravi has witnessed firsthand the power of authenticity and the importance of staying true to one’s roots.
TikTok gave me a voice I didn’t know I had. It also allowed me to connect with people who see me for who I am, quirks and all.”
Looking ahead, Ravi is determined to balance his creative passions with his engineering background. While content creation remains his primary focus, he is exploring ways to merge his skills and make a broader impact.
