Malaysia’s National Day Parade had a rather unexpected guest this year, and it was certainly not your usual parade participant.
For the first time, HONOR joined the national level Merdeka celebration, appearing before a crowd of around 100,000 people. However, it was the brand’s humanoid robot that quickly became one of the biggest highlights of the day.
From a 10 kilometre run to the national parade
Just one day earlier, the humanoid robot made its Malaysian debut at the Malaysia Marathon 2026, where it completed a 10 kilometre public road run.
Less than 24 hours later, it surprised crowds once again by marching at the National Day Parade.
The back to back appearances also marked the robot’s first journey outside China, with Malaysia chosen as its first overseas destination.
Its achievement was recognised with Asia Record and ASEAN Record certifications for being the “First Humanoid Robot to Complete a 10 Kilometre Public Road Run and March in a National Day Parade”.
But if you thought the robot was the only surprise HONOR had planned, there was something else that caught the crowd’s attention.
A mystery purple device steals the spotlight
During the parade, eagle eyed spectators may have noticed a striking purple device worn by the humanoid robot.
The phone had not been officially released at the time, and its unexpected public appearance naturally left many wondering what HONOR’s mysterious new device could be.
Well, the mystery has now been solved.
The device is the upcoming HONOR X9e Pro, which is set to launch in Malaysia soon.
The next addition to HONOR’s popular X9 series
The HONOR X9 series has become a familiar name among Malaysian consumers, particularly in the midrange smartphone segment.
Often described as a “national phone”, the series is known for its durability, long battery life and strong local sales performance.
The upcoming HONOR X9e Pro is expected to build on those strengths with a comprehensive upgrade, while continuing the X series’ momentum in Malaysia.
Malaysia’s selection as the first overseas destination for HONOR’s humanoid robot also reflects the country’s importance to the technology brand.
HONOR said it hopes to introduce more cutting edge technology to Malaysia while continuing to move forward alongside local consumers.
From completing a marathon route to marching at the National Day Parade, HONOR’s humanoid robot certainly had a busy first trip abroad.
At the same time, its surprise reveal of the HONOR X9e Pro offered Malaysians an early look at what is coming next.
The new phone is expected to arrive soon, carrying forward the X series’ reputation as “Pilihan Utama Rakyat Malaysia”, or Malaysia’s Preferred Choice.
