A shocking incident on Hong Kong’s MTR recently went viral after an elderly woman was caught on camera pulling a young woman’s hair and repeatedly stepping on her while allegedly trying to force her out of a priority seat.
The 16-second clip, which was widely shared on Threads, sparked outrage online, with many netizens condemning the elderly woman’s aggressive behaviour while praising the younger woman for remaining calm throughout the ordeal.
Elderly woman seen pulling hair & stepping on passenger
According to the video, the incident allegedly took place on an MTR train near the train doors, where the young woman was seated at the priority seating area.
In the viral video, the elderly woman sitting beside her could be seen tightly grabbing the younger woman’s hair and violently shaking her head, causing it to nearly hit the nearby handrail.

At the same time, the elderly woman was also seen stepping on the younger woman’s leg while attempting to push her out of the seat.
Another female passenger seated nearby tried to stop the incident, saying:
Let go! You’re occupying two seats yourself, why can’t others sit?”
A second woman wearing a shawl also attempted to intervene, but the elderly woman reportedly reacted by elbowing her.

Young woman remained calm despite attack
Despite being physically harassed, the young woman did not retaliate or lose her temper.
Instead, she quietly gathered her belongings while remaining silent throughout the confrontation.
The original uploader later shared in the comments section that the young woman eventually moved to another seat.
Another photo allegedly taken at Lai King Station on a different day had also been share after the incident went viral, showing the elderly woman occupying two seats by herself.

Netizens’ comment
The clip quickly drew strong reactions online, with many criticising the elderly woman’s behaviour.
“I hope everyone knows the truth. The young woman actually did nothing wrong. The real problem was the old woman in the middle. After I finished work, I saw that old woman using bags to occupy two seats and refusing to let others sit. I argued with her but couldn’t win against her stubbornness.”

“Last time, a Taiwanese lady extended her leg and tripped the old woman. It was honestly very satisfying to watch. Hong Kong girls are way too tolerant.”

“Her English name is Grace. She often drinks at the Starbucks in Exchange Square and always occupies several seats. Every morning it’s the same. People say she’s mentally unstable, but she still lines up early every day and rubs paper cups against the wall for some reason…”
