‘Hi, Job Vacancy’ – M’sian Job Seeker Stuns Employer With Casual Tone When Asking For A Job

That’s not how you get hired, mate.
You’d expect some level of effort when applying for a job — but one person proved otherwise.

A Malaysian woman recently shared her experience on Threads, and it quickly went viral for all the wrong reasons.

The OP, @mia_syafiqah, shared a WhatsApp conversation she received from someone enquiring about a job.

It started with a simple “Hi”, followed immediately by “job vacancy”.

She greeted them back, only to receive another vague reply: “Still got availability?”

Trying to be helpful, she asked which position they were referring to. The response?
“Any position also can.”

Let’s discuss. I didn’t set up any automatic WhatsApp job vacancy messages. Auto-rejected if it’s like this.” the OP shared in the caption of her Threads.

Netizens couldn’t believe it

Her post struck a chord with many who’ve dealt with similar situations. One user said:
“I used to just ghost people like this, blue tick and done. The way they ask is like buying laksa.”

Another commented:
“Yesss! Sometimes I get so annoyed when I receive messages like this. ‘Job vacancy?’ Like, are you from Planet Pluto? Back then, when I wanted to apply for a job, I made sure to introduce myself properly and word my message nicely. I just don’t understand this kind of attitude.”

Yes, job hunting can be stressful — but sending careless one-liners won’t help your chances.

A little effort, respect, and clarity go a long way. Have you ever received a message like this? Let us know in the comments.
