‘He Gave Me A Second Chance’ – M’sian Dad Donates Kidney To Save Son Battling End-Stage Renal Failure

Even with his age and thyroid issues, he was determined to help.
The bond between a parent and child is often described as unbreakable, with countless stories of selflessness and sacrifice serving as proof.

For one young man in Kelantan, this bond took on a life-saving dimension when his father made an extraordinary decision: to donate his kidney and give his son a second chance at life.

With the waiting list for a kidney transplant stretching up to 20 years, hope seemed far away.

It was during this period of despair that his father, Rosly Delniah, 56, stepped forward with an offer that would change their lives forever.

“At that moment, my dad decided he wanted to donate his kidney to me,” Firdaus recalled during an interview with Sinar Harian.

Despite his father’s age and existing thyroid issues, Rosly was determined to help.

Firdaus initially struggled to accept the offer, worried about the risks to his father’s health.

But Rosly’s resolve was unwavering, fuelled by the pain of watching his son endure the gruelling process of Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD).

‘I feel like I can never repay his sacrifice’

The decision was not made lightly, and the journey was anything but smooth.

It took a year of rigorous hospital procedures before the transplant could take place.

Reflecting on his father’s decision, Firdaus said, “I cried. I was heartbroken, moved, and deeply grateful. Even now, I feel like I can never repay his sacrifice.”

Finally, in November, the surgeries took place—four hours for Rosly and five hours for Firdaus.

The outcome was nothing short of miraculous.

“Alhamdulillah, because of him, I can live normally again,” Firdaus said with immense gratitude.

The experience also brought a renewed sense of purpose for Firdaus.

“Thank you, Dad. Insya-Allah, I will try to make my parents happy and fulfil my dream of taking them on an umrah pilgrimage,” he shared, promising to honour his father’s sacrifice in meaningful ways.
