Running a small business isn’t easy—especially when you’re trying to attract customers in a busy world where people are always rushing somewhere.
While most business owners turn to social media or flashy signs, one young boy in Malaysia had a different approach. Instead of waiting for customers to show up, he took matters into his own hands—literally.
A father’s hustle, a son’s support
TikTok user Jihad Khairudin (@jihad_khairudin) recently shared a heartwarming video of his son, Umar, doing his best to help promote his father’s new food stall.
Jihad had just started selling premium drinks and carbonara popia in Senawang, and with this new venture came a shift in their routine—Umar would have to do his schoolwork at the shop after class.

Knowing how tough it is to run a business, Umar wasn’t just going to sit around and watch. Despite his father encouraging him to focus on his studies, he was eager to help in any way he could.
A young boy’s determination
Armed with nothing but a simple cardboard placard, Umar stood outside the stall, hoping to catch the attention of passing drivers.

But he didn’t just stand still—he ran up and down the path between the stall and the road, waving enthusiastically at every car and motorbike that passed by.
It was no easy task. Many vehicles sped past without a second glance, but that didn’t stop him. He kept going, his energy unwavering.

And then, finally, his effort paid off—a red car pulled over and bought something from the stall. Umar’s hard work had made a difference, and the moment was nothing short of rewarding.
Netizens react: Praise and concern
The video quickly made waves online, with many netizens praising Umar for his dedication and willingness to help his father. His determination and work ethic at such a young age touched countless hearts.

However, not everyone was entirely at ease. Some viewers raised concerns about his safety, noting how close he was to the road while trying to attract customers.
Jihad later acknowledged their worries, thanking them for their advice and assuring them he’d keep his son’s safety in mind.
