TGV Cinemas has responded to a recent incident at its Seri Manjung location, where a group of moviegoers caused confusion after arriving late and occupying seats in a different hall.
According to the cinema’s statement, the group turned up more than 20 minutes after their movie had started.

In an attempt to catch the earlier scenes, they entered a different screening hall and sat in seats that belonged to other patrons.
Patrons asked to return to original seats
The group was eventually approached by cinema staff and asked to vacate the seats and return to their designated hall and seating.

After missing the opening portion of their scheduled movie, the group later demanded a refund, citing an incomplete viewing experience.
TGV reiterates no refunds for latecomers
In its statement, TGV reaffirmed its policy of not issuing refunds for late arrivals.
The company also reminded customers to sit only in the seats they have purchased.
Additionally, if customers encounter someone occupying their seat, they are advised to seek assistance from staff on duty rather than taking matters into their own hands.
“TGV is committed to delivering the best experience for everyone,” it wrote.
Netizens call out latecomers
Many netizens were quick to defend TGV’s policy and call out the group’s actions.
One Facebook user wrote: “Ridiculous, nobody asked you [to] arrive late.”

Another user sarcastically asked, “Is this your first time watching the movie?” implying that the group lacked basic cinema etiquette.

“I’m late to a meeting, and I demand the client pay me for time I wasted.”

Another user also chimed in, saying, “Absolutely correct… movie screening time cannot wait for you. Just taking advantage and trying their luck to seek refunds.”
