Gordon Ramsay Street Pizza has officially closed its doors at Sunway Pyramid after three years in business, leaving fans having to look elsewhere for gourmet pizzas.
A Google search marked the premise as “permanently closed” as of today, but no statement was released disclosing the reason for the closure.
News of the pizza restaurant calling it a day was first shared on social media, where a netizen wrote that even a restaurant bearing the eight Michelin-star chef’s name wasn’t enough to save it “from the fate of closing”.
Another photo showed that Gordon Ramsay Street Pizza will be replaced by Mora, a Korean restaurant.
Online buzz
Opened on Sept 15, 2023, Gordon Ramsay Street Pizza attracted much attention thanks to it being named by the British celebrity chef, who’s well known for his cooking skills and expletive-laden remarks on hit shows like Hell’s Kitchen, MasterChef USA, and Kitchen Nightmares.
The restaurant’s opening also made it the first ever outlet in Southeast Asia, with other outlets located in the UK, Middle East, South Korea.
One of the menu’s key drawing factor was its bottomless pizzas, where customers could enjoy as much pizza as they wanted from a flat rate of RM79 per adult and RM49 for kids.
However, it must be noted that none of the pizzas were made by Ramsay himself as he merely licenced his name to be used.
Reviews on the restaurant have been mixed, with some criticising its inconsistent quality, long waiting times, and poor service.
